Ruff-Ruff, Tweet and Dave
Interactive preschool series with a question-answering hamster.
Ruff-Ruff, Tweet and Dave is an interactive animated preschool series from Collingwood & Co. and Sparky Animation. It first aired in 2015 on CBeebies in the UK and on Sprout in the US. Hulu picked up the streaming rights in 2016. New episodes stopped being made after Universal Kids ended its original programming development in 2019.
In each episode, a hamster named Hatty calls on Ruff-Ruff, Tweet, and Dave to join him on an adventure. Several times per episode, Hatty asks a question. The three main characters each offer an answer, but only one is correct. Hatty then asks the audience which character gave the right answer.
Hatty is the host of the show. He wears a bow tie and a top hat that changes shape from episode to episode. He transports the three friends in a top-shaped aircraft called the "Spin-Again." His hat also holds cards with questions he reads aloud. He acts like a teacher, sharing information during their trips. It is not known whether he has a house, though he does have a garden where he sometimes brings the trio. In the UK, David Holt provides his voice; in the US, Forrest Harding voiced him in season one and Bryce Papenbrook in season two.
Ruff-Ruff is a five-year-old red puppy and one of the three title characters. He lives in a red home that looks like a ball with his ears, sitting beside the homes of Tweet and Dave on a mountain above a lake. He drives a red Rolly Pod and enjoys digging holes, which sometimes leads to finding lost items. Joseph West voices him in the UK, and Ethan Drake Davis in the US.
Tweet is a four-year-old yellow chick who wears pink glasses and is the shortest of the group. Her home is yellow and shaped like an egg, located between Ruff-Ruff's and Dave's houses. She drives a yellow Rolly Pod that has a beak. She moves by shifting both feet at the same time rather than one after the other. Ella Pearl Marshall-Pinder voices her in the UK, and Hannah Swain in the US.
Dave is a six-year-old blue panda and the largest of the three title characters. His white home, which has blue ears, resembles him and sits to the right of Tweet's house, even farther than Ruff-Ruff's. He drives a big, fat blue Rolly Pod. At the end of each episode, Hatty asks who will fall asleep first, and Dave is always the answer because he always nods off before Ruff-Ruff and Tweet.
