Shelldon
An animated series set in the underwater town of Shell Land.
Shelldon (Thai: เชลล์ดอน; RTGS: Chendon) is an animated children's television series created under the direction of Jirayuth Chusanachoti. It first aired on Thailand's Channel 3 on October 13, 2008, and later on the American network Qubo starting October 16, 2009, where it remained until September 30, 2012. The show is set in the fictional underwater community of Shell Land and centers on the adventures of a young Yoka star shell named Shelldon Clam and his friends.
The main characters include Shelldon, who lives with his family at the Charming Clam Inn and enjoys helping others and solving problems. His friend Herman is a blue hermit crab fascinated by alien artifacts and paranormal events, and he has a crush on a classmate named Hurley. Connie Cowrie is a money cowry who works at the inn to avoid relying on her parents' money.
Recurring characters include Dr. Shell, a brilliant but scatter-brained riversnail inventor who has become a permanent guest at the inn; Mama Clam, the cool-headed and savvy owner of the inn; and Papa Clam, her guileless and easily frazzled husband. Other characters include Mr. Inkysquid, the school teacher; Cracken, a wealthy sea slug businessman; Nikki Nautilus, a TV celebrity; Luther, a loggerhead sea turtle taxi driver; and a variety of other residents such as Shelldon's cousins Click and Clack, a trio of heavy metal-addicted fish, a bully starfish named Stan, an octopus pirate called Captain 8-Ball, a friendly humpback whale named Louise, and many more.
The series was produced by Thai company Shellhut Entertainment in co-production with several studios: Tiny Island Productions (seasons 1–2), AniTime and Classic Media (season 1), and various Thai studios including BeboydCG (season 1), Anya Animation Company and Lunchbox Studio (seasons 2–3), Animotif (season 2), and Kantana Animation Studios, Teapot Studio, and Ad Hoc Animation (season 3). Voice casting for the original version was handled by Giant Wave, and for the English version by Voice Box Productions in Canada. Distribution was managed by Planet Nemo Animation in Europe, DHX Media in North America, and Entertainment Rights (season 1) in Britain.
On October 6, 2015, Mill Creek Entertainment released a DVD titled "Shelldon - Under the Sea Adventures!" containing the first two seasons.
